FAQ's about our growing kits

How long before my Carden starts to grow?
The cress seeds will start to germinate in a few days. You should be able to see sprouting by day three. If the seeds have not started to germinate by day four, make sure they are placed near sunlight - this will help speed them along.

How long will it last?
You tell us! Once opened and watered, your Carden should have no trouble lasting at least two weeks. If it lasts longer, contact us to see if you are contender for the longest living Carden

When can you send or use it?
You can send and grow your Carden all year round.

Do the seeds have a shelf life?
The lifespan of the cress seeds are approximately one - two years

Can you eat the cress?
Yes absolutely. The cress is edible (and also nutritious) so let us know of any recipes.

Why do you use cress seeds?
Cress seeds germinate very quickly all year round. In less than a week you will be able to see your mini garden come to life.

Will water leak from my Carden?
No. Each Carden contains a waterproof tray to ensure it is watertight.

Help! My seeds aren't growing!
The most likely cause will be a lack of sunlight, warmth or water. Ensure your Carden is getting enough of these nutrients - you may have to move its location into a brighter, warmer spot. If it is living in direct sunlight or a very warm spot it will need to add more water so the seeds and paper are kept moist at all times. If you have over watered your Carden then the seeds will struggle to root into the paper - carefully tip an excess water out (ensuring the seeds stay in!)

Can this be recycled?
Yes. The inner tray will need to be removed first (check with your local authority to see facilities for recycling APET plastic in your area). The paper board can be recycled - or better still composted. In the future we aim to use only biodegradable paper materials. All the paper used in our products have been sourced from FSC accredited mills and forests.

What type of postage does it require?

FAQ's about our metal kits

The metal sheet looks scratched?
If your metal kits arrives looking scratched make sure you have remembered to peel back the clear plastic film. The metal should be clean and unmarked underneath.

I'm finding it difficult to assemble my model?
Remember to take your time. Follow the instructions carefully. Looking at the completed image will help you to visualise what the final model will look like. Please be careful not to repeatedly fold the metal - this will weaken the joint and can cause the piece to break.

How do I remove the model from the sheet?
You can separate the metal model pieces by gently twisting them to break the tabs that hold them in place.

What type of postage does it require?
Postage within the United Kingdom requires a 1st class stamp. Postage to all other European Union countries can be by airmail.
